How to Access E-Resources
(a) On-campus
- Your current Panther ID card is issued when you are hired or enrolled in a class at FIU.
- Activate your library account using the barcode number on the back of your Panther ID card by either contacting Green Library Circulation Desk at 305-348-2451 or online.
- Identify the e-resource that you would like to access.
- If prompted, enter your 14-digit barcode number printed on the back of your Panther ID card. This is your library card number.
- If you cannot log in, your library card number may need to be activated. Contact Green Library Circulation Desk at 305-348-2451 or activate the library card number online.
- Most e-resources will be accessible without the log-in process when you are on campus.
(b) Off-campus (Remote) Access
- Follow the same steps in the above section (a) On-Campus Access.
- When prompted, enter your your 14-digit barcode number printed on the back of your Panther ID card. When accessing e-resources remotely, you must log-in.
- After a successful log-in, if you still experience a problem, check the URL in your web browser.
- If the URL contains "ezproxy.fiu.edu" (e.g. http://accessscience.com.ezproxy.fiu.edu/xyz.html), you are successfully connected to FIU E-Resources via the FIU Proxy Server.
- The part, "ezproxy.fiu.edu", will be displayed only when you are accessing e-resources remotely outside the FIU campus. If you do not see ".ezproxy.fiu.edu" inside of your URL, go to https://login.ezproxy.fiu.edu/login, log-in with the 14-digit library card number, and then navigate to the e-resource that you would like to access in the same web browser using the same web browser.
- Do NOT use any bookmarks that you have previously created in your browser as it may cause losing your connection to the FIU Proxy server.
Troubleshooting
- If you have a current Panther ID card and activated the library card but are still unable to access e-resources, take the following steps.
- First, check if your Panther ID card has not expired. If so, you will need a current Panther ID card.
- Second, see if you can log in to your library account here.
- If not, you will need to activate your library card. See section (a) above to find out how you can do so.
- Third, make sure to deactivate any proxy configuration settings you may have made in your browser's preferences/options files.
- Fourth, be sure that your browser software has been allowed to accept "cookies" in your browser's preferences/options settings.Report Problems
